Eternal Tapestry - Altar Of Grass

Altar Of Grass

This year Hyperblasted Recordings reissued Eternal Tapestry’s album “Altar of Grass”. Eternal Tapestry is psychedelic band from Portland, OR, that uses elements of experimental, psych-folk, and space rock. The band is a super group of musicians from the psych world, including members from Jackie-O Motherfucker, Heavy Winged, and Bloodbiker to name a few. Let me say, this band fucking rules! Some tracks to look out for are “Woodland Spirit” and “Ascent”. Support these guys here. Preview this here.

GHQ - Everywhere At Once

Everywhere At Once

This is the newest album from the trio of GHQ, “Everywhere At Once” released on Three Lobed Recordings in 2008. GHQ keeps releasing great album after great album over the past few years, playing a raga acoustic, ambient, drone style that is hypnotic. On this album there is four songs spanning over 28 minutes. This probably not the last GHQ album I will post, I have a couple more that I’m thinking about posting! Check them out here. Get a taste of the album here.

Totally Ripped - Goodbye Babylon

Goodbye Babylon

So, based on the plays on last.fm, I’m assuming not too many people know of this band. I figured I get the word out about these guys. Totally Ripped is a three piece noise/drone band from Vancouver, CA including the drummer of Shearing Pinx and many other bands/acts of Vancouver, Jesse Taylor. Jesse also runs the DIY label, Isolated Now Waves, which this “Goodbye Babylon” CD-R was released on back 2007. Jesse gave me this CD-R for free after talking him to at a Shearing Pinx show. The album consists of five songs spanning over 40 minutes, consists of ambient, noise, feedback, drone. Check these dudes here. Give it a listen here.

Robedoor - Rancor Keeper

Rancor Keeper

Robedoor is one my favorite drone bands currently. Hailing from the great music scene of Los Angeles, the duo of Alex and Britt are arguably one the best drone/psych-noise bands around now. In 2007, they released “Rancor Keeper” on Release The Bats Records. The album consists of a dark ambient, psych-noise, drone fest that spans over four songs. Each song just as great as the other. Check out their stuff here. Taste the album here.

Pocahaunted - Mirror Mics

Mirror Mics

The ladies of Pocahaunted are back it again with their latest release “Mirror Mics” on Weird Forrest Records. These two ladies(Brittany and Amanda) have been pumpin’ out jam after jam, album after album and it never gets old. Is anyone sick of these girls? I’m certainly not. On this album, they give us two more psych-folk/drone jams, “One another” and “Sister Calypso”. Support them here. Give it a listen for yourself here.

Wooden Shjips - S/T

Wooden Shjips

Besides having a really rad name, this band shreds. They play really nice experimental, psychedelic rock that flows through your body as you listen to them. These dudes are rockin’ it from the great music scene in San Francisco and in 2007 they released this masterpiece of album on Holy Mountain. This really is a great album, from the first song to the last song. You can visit them here. Give this album a listen here.

Kites - Peace Trials

Peace Trials

In 2005, Kites released “Peace Trials” on Load Records. Chris Forgues(Kites) plays noise, psych-folk. He switchs between acoustic folk songs and dark noise/drone songs on the album. It’s really beautiful. This is my favorite release from him and probably of many others too. Some jams to look out for are “Something About America”, “Dirt”, and “Peace Trials”. Support this guy and check out some of his stuff here. Also, preview the album here.

Sic Alps - Pleasures And Treasures

Pleasures And Treasures

In 2006, Sic Alps put out “Pleasures And Treasures” on Animal Disguise Recordings. This is personally my favorite release from the band. Hollowing feedback guitars and vocals make the whole album great. This album has less rhythm to the songs then more recent releases by the band, this album is more slow and drone oriented. It’s awesome! Some great jams on this album are “Semi-Streets”, “Caro”, and “Stories”. Check these dudes out here. Peep this album here.

Magik Markers - I Trust My Guitar, ETC.

Photobucket

This is a older release from the band with the original line up including original member Leah Quimby. This album, “I Trust My Guitar, ETC.” was released in 2005 on Ecstatic Peace. It consists of lo-fi, noise rock jams that some of them get up 20 minutes long. Some of favorites are “Morris House” and “Straight As In Love”. This is my favorite release from the band and if get a chance, pick this up on vinyl! You can check this album here.

Burning Star Core - Blood Lightning 2007

Photobucket

This is last year’s album from the great man of Burning Star Core, “Blood Lightning 2007″ released on No fun. It’s an album of beautiful sound scape of noise, drone, and strings. The last song is a live track from a show he play with some others, called 10-09-04. All the tracks on this album are great! You can check out his work here! Check out the album here.
